Britain First & Great British National Strike

Recently, SCARF members have been out on the streets countering far right and anti-immigrant groups.

On Saturday 17th May, we opposed the Britain First demo in Birmingham, and yesterday (24th May), we mobilised to oppose and observe the Great British National Strike in both Doncaster and Sheffield. 

Initial impressions of the groups yesterday were that this was a loose collection of GB NEWS viewers and REFORM voters rather than a new fascist street movement. Talking points included government corruption, winter fuel allowance, inheritance tax, and an off-piste emphasis on the Chagos Islands. Of course the main scapegoat for the decline in living standards was immigration.

As austerity and the coming climate crisis bite deeper, SCARF expects we will see a rise in right wing activity as the billionaires try to defect attention from their crisis.

HOW TO START A CULTURE WAR? Palestine Action Solidarity Mobilisation Sheffield

On Thursday 26th June, several SCARFers attended the Palestine Action (PA) solidarity demonstration outside Sheffield Town Hall. A few hundred people turned out to voice their opposition to the government's intention to proscribe PA – effectively labelling anyone associated with, or expressing support for, the movement a terrorist. This authoritarian attempt to silence dissent needs to be resisted, but it's also a sign of desperation and a state acknowledgement of the effectiveness of PA's tactics. SCARF offers its wholehearted support and solidarity for PA's aims and the tactics they employ towards ending the UK's complicity in a genocide. Who Are Ya!? – Great British National Protest

With the ever changing landscape of the UK's far right, we thought it might be a good time to look at a few of the pertinent groups and individuals active in 2025.
