Britain First & Great British National Strike

Recently, SCARF members have been out on the streets countering far right and anti-immigrant groups.

On Saturday 17th May, we opposed the Britain First demo in Birmingham, and yesterday (24th May), we mobilised to oppose and observe the Great British National Strike in both Doncaster and Sheffield.

Initial impressions of the groups yesterday were that this was a loose collection of GB NEWS viewers and REFORM voters rather than a new fascist street movement. Talking points included government corruption, winter fuel allowance, inheritance tax, and an off-piste emphasis on the Chagos Islands. Of course the main scapegoat for the decline in living standards was immigration.

As austerity and the coming climate crisis bite deeper, SCARF expects we will see a rise in right wing activity as the billionaires try to defect attention from their crisis.

SCARF is keeping a watchful eye and working to oppose any attack on our community. Stay tuned for your updates from the streets!

False Flag

HOW TO START A CULTURE WAR? Surely every true-born Englishman has by now downed a pint of Coronation ale, got the ladder out of the shed, and using British-made cable ties, tethered a flag to a lamp post in their street. Or is the whole thing a hoax, a GBeebies fever dream? There are far fewer flags per square mile than even during a lesser football tournament, those that are out seem pretty localised and nothing compared to the spontaneous display of Ukrainian flags at the outset of war. None of this has stopped the entire billionaire funded pundit class (Wootton, Goodwin, Oakeshott, GB News...) stepping up and declaring that the English lion has finally roared. Astroturfing is the art of creating “grassroots” movements from the top, and this flagshagging exercise is such a plastic lawn that it comes with its own set of garden furniture. The main Facebook group has only got 3.7k members! The few photos on it show a max of three flags each. KERB YOUR ENTHUSIASM As an action desig...

Palestine Action Solidarity Mobilisation Sheffield

On Thursday 26th June, several SCARFers attended the Palestine Action (PA) solidarity demonstration outside Sheffield Town Hall. A few hundred people turned out to voice their opposition to the government's intention to proscribe PA – effectively labelling anyone associated with, or expressing support for, the movement a terrorist. This authoritarian attempt to silence dissent needs to be resisted, but it's also a sign of desperation and a state acknowledgement of the effectiveness of PA's tactics. SCARF offers its wholehearted support and solidarity for PA's aims and the tactics they employ towards ending the UK's complicity in a genocide. MINOR FLARE UP The complete absence of visible policing at the demonstration was noticable. Presumably the local fuzz decided their presence would do more to energise or antagonise the crowd, but we can't help feel an opportunity was missed to capitalise on the light touch approach. While the majority of attendees were focuse...

Who Are Ya!? – Great British National Protest

With the ever changing landscape of the UK's far right, we thought it might be a good time to look at a few of the pertinent groups and individuals active in 2025. Given the constant bickering, betrayal, regicide, and legal trouble in fascist circles there's a good chance some of this stuff will be out of date before the ink is dry, but hopefully it'll be a useful snapshot in time. So, look forward to some spilt tea on Britain First, UKIP, the various Patriotic Alternative splinters, and (of course) the patron saint of bell-ends Stephen Yaxley Lennon. But to kick things off we're going to pinch the cheeks of the baby of the movement – Great British National Protest (né e Strike) Great British National Strike Protest The new kid on the fascist block GBNP is built around the ‘personality’ of former soldier and current grifter Richard Donaldson. Initially branding themselves Great British National Strike as part of an attempt to co-opt left wing language and appeal to...
